Japan Autumn workshop 2019 - Pat Kay workshops
A trip to Japan wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Mt Fuji.

Autumn in Japan is one of the most beautiful times of the year, where the entire country becomes engulfed in yellow, orange and red hues from top to bottom.

In this intense, fast-paced, 8-day, 7 night Japan Autumn workshop, you’ll learn multiple styles of photography to improve on how you capture your future travels, as well as post processing, social media and business tips to completely round out your knowledge.

This workshop is strictly limited to 4 students.

Unlike other workshops, I am to provide you with a complete experience of becoming a better travel photographer from every angle. This means a highly adaptable schedule and a training program that is augmented to suit your individual needs and skill level. A small, tight group means we’ll be able to be flexible and move fast, learning the most amount of tips, tricks and techniques in the shortest amount of time.

This is not a workshop for the feint of heart – we’ll be getting up early most days for sunrise, moving bases often, and making the most of our every day. But of course, there will be scheduled time to enjoy authentic Japanese experiences, food and culture as we move across the country from Tokyo through to Itsukushima.

It’ll be an adventure of a lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1, 2 & 3 – Tokyo

We’ll start our adventures here, in the world’s busiest city.

It’s here we’ll be focusing on documenting culture and the gorgeous contrast of warm Autumn hues among the cooler city skyline. We’ll also be learning the secrets of good street photography, and we’ll also be teaming up with a local Tokyo model and learning about natural light portraiture.

During our stay in Tokyo, we’ll visit the oldest temple, the tallest tower, the most futuristic exhibition and the biggest garden in Tokyo (and plenty of other things too). We’ll then go through how to post-process all the amazing images we’ve captured before moving to our next location, Mt Fuji.

Day 4 & 5 – Kawaguchi

A journey to Japan just wouldn’t be complete without visiting the majesty that is Mt Fuji.

A complete contrast to the frantic pace and hustle and bustle Tokyo, our Japan Autumn workshop will take us to Fujiyoshida and Kawaguchi, staying in the most gorgeous 5 star hotel nestled in a mountain with a stunning view of Mt Fuji. A decompression getaway if there ever was one.

Day 6, 7 & 8 – Kyoto

Our third and final base sits in the cultural heart of Japan, Kyoto. It’s here that when we’re not doing day trips to Itsukushima, Osaka or Nara, we’ll be documenting the deep culture surrounding every inch of this beautiful city.

We’ll visit some of the most inspiring locations in Kyoto, from thousands of Torii gates, to small villages that will transport you back into the Edo period. To top off our experience, we’ll also capture street photography images of Geisha and Maiko in locations only locals know about.
