What's inside the guide
From Hokkaido to Okinawa. The locations worth your limited time, and exactly how to shoot them.
"What an incredible book! It has everything a photographer could dream of. Neatly organized, with helpful details for all seasons, travel and transportation tips, recommended gear and etiquette advice."

The route I’d give my best friend
Japan rewards the prepared. The difference between a good photo and a great one is usually knowing when to arrive, where to stand, and what the light does at that hour.
Every location in this guide comes with descriptions, map pins, photography notes, best times to shoot, prices, open hours, and websites. Skip the years of trial and error. I’ve already made the mistakes for you.
"It's not just a travel guide. The way you incorporated language, cultural context, and small linguistic insights makes it much deeper and more meaningful. It helps you understand the place, not only see it."

Specifically for photography
Move over, Lonely Planet. This guide is specifically for photography. I've travelled to many of these locations multiple times across different times of year, so I'm able to provide the absolute best timings and photography tips for these magical places.
Japan's top 50 photography locations, sorted by region, complete with descriptions, fun facts, hidden gotchas, tripod usage, the best time of day and year to visit, how to shoot it, example images, and how to get there. Plus many local gems you would only find out about if you speak Japanese or know a local.

Travel tips too
Photography isn't everything. So much else contributes to a great time in Japan.
You'll get a Japan-wide events and festivals list, notes on accommodation styles and food, the best ways to travel within Japan with time and price considerations, culture notes on the differences between western and Japanese culture, and basic Japanese survival words and phrases.

Always with you
This book is digital, so it's always with you while you're travelling. Look up reference images and get exact locations, on the go.
It's a mobile-optimised PDF, readable in any app that reads PDF (best on Adobe Acrobat mobile), with interactive hyperlinks to maps for every location.

Additional information
Are there similar entries across the 3 guides?
In the case of this guide, the top 50 locations naturally include some entries that also appear in the Tokyo and Kyoto guides, because they really are some of the best locations in Japan. These duplicates are a minority, and nowhere near a third of the experience.
Is there a printed version of this book?
I designed all my eBooks to be mobile-optimised, so you have the best experience reading on your device and can bring the book along while you travel. The formatting doesn't really work for print, so no, there is not, and will never be, a printed version. Sorry about that.
Can I share the book with someone else?
These eBooks are many years in the making. They've taken me thousands of hours to put together, and tens of thousands of dollars to finance on my own. I'm a solo creator who runs a small business by myself, so I appreciate any support you can give by purchasing one copy per person. Thank you.
Never wonder where to shoot in Japan again
One great image from this guide pays for it. So does one saved morning of aimless wandering. $49, yours forever.
